Thursday Get Together (TGT) is a friendly and informal monthly meeting for over 60s. Up to 25 of us meet in the church hall at 2.00pm on the 3rd Thursday of each month for a relaxing hour or two. We sit round tables so that we can chat with each other over a cup of tea (lots of different kinds) or coffee, for a time before the meeting commences formally.
There are always a couple of songs, a Bible reading and a short talk based on the Bible – following a theme. In addition, there is a different activity each month, which can involve a quiz (easy ones), or a game, or making something simple (like a windmill, or a candle); all are fun to do and don’t require brains! Other times we’ve had people tell us what God means to them, or have a talk on a subject, such as one about bees.
We finish with another cup of tea or coffee, and enjoy a nice piece of cake (diets are also catered for!). Conversation continues around the tables. There’s no rush to go home.
At Christmas we sing Carols and in the summer enjoy either an outing for a cream tea at a Garden Centre, or have a garden party.
The afternoons are organised by Stan and Wendy Evers, Jo Leaver, and Pat and Frank Goodrich.
Why not come and join us! We enjoy leading it!
